Mumbai, Mumbai Sub, Palghar, Thane District-Level Career Mapping Workshop

The Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Thane & Palghar District-Level ‘Career Mapping One-Day Workshop’ was successfully organized on 29 August 2026 by the Maharashtra State Department of Higher and Technical Education and the Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre (MITSC).

The workshop was organized with the objective of helping youth identify suitable career opportunities based on their interests, abilities, and skills, while providing them with clear direction for their future.

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon. Shri Ravindra Sathe, Chairman, Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board. Distinguished experts and personalities from various fields were present to guide students on career opportunities, career selection, skill development, entrepreneurship, financial awareness, and personality development.

The workshop was graced by Hon. Shri Praful Pathak, President, Solar Energy Society of India; Hon. Shri Shankar Jadhav, Senior Partner & CIO, Singhania & Co. and Head – Strategy, Bombay Stock Exchange; and Hon. Sonali Lohar, Audiologist and Voice Therapist. Hon. Shri Bhushan Kolekar, Former Assistant General Manager (AGM), State Bank of India, and Hon. Yashwant Shitole, Chairman, Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre, also provided valuable guidance to the students.

Hon. Yashwant Shitole emphasized the importance of understanding one’s interests, abilities, and skills while choosing a career. He also highlighted the importance of preparing a Plan B along with the primary career path and making proper future-oriented plans.

Hon. Shri Praful Pathak guided students about various career and entrepreneurial opportunities in solar energy, electricity, and consumer goods. Hon. Shri Bhushan Kolekar highlighted the importance of time management, prioritization, family discussions, financial awareness, and entrepreneurship.

Hon. Shri Shankar Jadhav (IIT & IIM) explained the broader concept of success through the formula:

Success = Money + Knowledge + Human Values + Excellence in Skills

He explained that true success is not limited to earning money but involves maintaining a balance between knowledge, skills, excellence, and human values.

Hon. Principal Dr. Deepa Verma and Hon. Yashwant Shitole guided students on the importance of commitment, relationships, character, and human values. Hon. Sonali Lohar encouraged students to focus on self-awareness and skill development and to discover their own capabilities.

Hon. Shri Ravindra Sathe introduced Apiculture (Beekeeping) as an alternative career and entrepreneurial opportunity, encouraging students to explore innovative career options beyond traditional professions.

An Entrepreneurship Assessment Test was also conducted during the workshop to evaluate the entrepreneurial potential of students. Students scoring 21–25 marks were identified as ready for entrepreneurship, those scoring 16–20 marks were found to have good entrepreneurial potential, while students scoring below 15 marks were advised to further develop their entrepreneurial abilities.

Overall, the workshop provided students with valuable information about diverse career opportunities and emphasized the importance of self-awareness, skill development, financial awareness, entrepreneurial thinking, proper planning, and human values.

The workshop conveyed an important message to students to identify their interests and capabilities, choose a suitable primary career path, consider alternative career options, and plan effectively for a successful future.
