Career Katta

Career Katta is a joint initiative of the Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Department and the Maharashtra Information Technology Support Center (MITS-C), dedicated to guiding and empowering students in academics, careers, and entrepreneurship.

Now affiliated with over 5,000 colleges across Maharashtra and reaching approximately 2 lakh students—primarily from rural areas—Career Katta bridges the gap between education and employability. Through the Career Katta mobile app, students can easily access programs, learning resources, and expert interactions from anywhere. This outreach has already enabled more than 2,800 students to secure government jobs.

The platform offers online courses in emerging technologies, soft skills, and competitive exam preparation—many designed as credit courses aligned with university curricula, allowing students to earn academic credits while upgrading their skills. A highlight is the Career Sansad (Career Parliament), where students engage in discussions with policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to develop leadership and decision-making skills.

Career Katta also helps students prepare a “Plan B” for their careers. Under the Global Entrepreneur initiative, industry experts guide students in exploring business and startup opportunities—helping them become job creators as well as job seekers.

With its integrated approach of guidance, skill-building, entrepreneurship support, and digital inclusion, Career Katta empowers the youth of Maharashtra—especially in rural areas—to compete globally and achieve sustainable success
