The 5th Anniversary Celebration and State-Level Award Ceremony of Career Katta, an initiative dedicated to the holistic development of youth, was held with great enthusiasm at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Mumbai. The grand event was jointly organized by the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, the Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre, and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
The programme was presided over by Hon. Shri Uday Samant, Minister for Industries, Government of Maharashtra. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in the changing global landscape and emphasized the vast opportunities emerging for young people in modern industries and innovation-driven sectors.
The event was inaugurated by Hon. Shri Ravindra Sathe, Chairman of the Maharashtra Khadi and Village Industries Board (Minister of State rank).
The programme was graced by several distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Namdev Bhosale, Deputy Secretary, Marathi Language Department, Government of Maharashtra; Shri Prafull Pathak, President of the Solar Energy Society of India; Ms. Sonali Lohar, Audiologist and Voice Therapist; Shri Sachin Itkar, Regional Director, Maharashtra Economic Development Council; Ms. Dimple Mittal, Expert Guide in Financial Literacy; and Ms. Mithila Dalvi, Founder of Samvad – A Dialogue.
Prominent academicians also marked their presence at the event, including Dr. Atul Salunkhe, Principal Promoter for the Mumbai Region; Dr. Deepa Verma, Dr. Baban Singare, Dr. Baban Singare, Ms. Karuna Gokarn, and Dr. Rima Khanna, Dean of Academics at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce.
A one-day State-Level Workshop was organized as part of the celebration on the theme:
“Viksit Bharat 2047: The Role of the National Education Policy and Higher Education in Maharashtra’s Economic Development.”
The workshop focused on the transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP) and explored how it can enhance student skills, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, and contribute to the long-term economic development of Maharashtra and India.
During the ceremony, individuals and institutions from across Maharashtra were honoured with State-Level Awards for their remarkable contributions in the fields of education and social development.
The event was attended by Shri Yashwant Shitole, President of the Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre, and Ms. Karuna Gokarn, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, along with experts and representatives from various sectors.
The successful organization of the programme was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Regional Principal Promoters, Regional Coordinators, and District Coordinators associated with the Career Katta initiative.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from professors serving as Career Katta college coordinators, students, members of the Career Sansad from the Mumbai region, and several distinguished personalities from the academic community across Maharashtra.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of Career Katta to empowering youth, strengthening higher education, and contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through skill development, innovation, and knowledge-driven growth.
